The 2012 Tri-State Dairy Nutrition Conference (http://tristatedairy.osu.edu) was held April 24-25 in Ft. Wayne, IN at the Grand Wayne Center. It is hosted annually by Ohio State, Michigan State, and Purdue universities. Attendance was 457 this year, about the same as for 2011, and attendees consisted primarily of feed industry personnel, veterinarians, and university faculty, staff, and students. There were 61 exhibits this year, a record number for the Conference. The pre-conference program held on Tuesday morning by Mycogen Seeds was well attended. On Tuesday evening, Prince Agri Products hosted the veterinary dinner and Alltech Corp. hosted the private consultants dinner. There were 16 speakers at the Conference, addressing the structural and financial changes in the dairy industry, animal nutrition and health, milk composition, forage management, using automated milk feeders for calves, variation in feed composition, and feeding high moisture corn.
The undergraduate student presentation contest was held on Tuesday morning with 9 students participating (3 each from Ohio State, Purdue, and Michigan State universities). The graduate student research presentations were held on Tuesday evening with 9 students participating (4 from Ohio State, 3 from Purdue, and 2 from Michigan State). The 2013 Tri-State Dairy Nutrition Conference will be held April 23-24 at the Grand Wayne Center in Ft. Wayne, IN.
