Many different management areas exist on dairy farms. Crop management. including harvesting and storage, is important in reducing costs of production and having high quality feed of sufficient supply available for all of the livestock on the farm. Management of facilities, herd health, the financial aspects, etc. are all very important for optimizing animal well-being and farm profitability. Management of the feeding program is a daily function and is a major contributor to the performance of the herd and the profitability of the farm given that about 50% of the costs of production is from feed.
